Protect yourself from Skype Resolvers!
On Monday 29th June I will have uploaded my Explained! episode on ‘How does a Skype Resolver work?’. It’s all good knowing how it works, but how can you protect yourself from them? It’s easy to understand how they work, but no good if you can’t be immune to them.
So there is a number of steps you should take to becoming immune to Skype Resolvers. Follow these easy steps to ensure you’re protected. These only cover Skype on PC’s. So if you’re on a mobile device then this won’t work. Also for Mac users this might not be the same either.
So the first thing you need to do is allow HTTPS and a bunch of other settings in the Skype Settings also need to be changed. Follow these steps below:
- First click on the ‘Tools’ tab in the Menu Strip of Skype and click on ‘Options’.
- Go dwon to Advanced and click on Connection
- In the port number box type in ‘32535’.
- Also check ‘Use port 80 and 443 for additional incoming connections’
- Select HTTPS from the drop down menu
- Put the host as 127.0.0.1 and the port number as 40031
- Uncheck ‘Enable proxy authentication’
- Uncheck ‘Enable uPnP if it’s checked.
- Check the ‘Allow direct connections to your contacts only’
- Click on save
You can also fill out the Proxy settings, but that will come in a future video tutorial.
