Protect yourself from Skype Resolvers!   On Monday 29th June I will have uploaded my Explained! episode on ‘How does a Skype Resolver work?’. It’s all good knowing how it works, but how can you protect yourself from them? It’s easy to understand how they work , but no good if you can’t be immune to them. So there is a number of steps you should take to becoming immune to Skype Resolvers. Follow these easy steps to ensure you’re protected. These only cover Skype on PC’s. According to analysis by Kaspberky Labs, the US National Security Agency  may  have been hiding hacking payloads in the firmware of consumer hard drives over the last  15-20 years.  This has given the NSA the ability to eavesdrop on thousands (if not more) computers. The brands affected are the top hard drive manufactures including Samsung, Western Digital, Seagate, Maxtor, Toshiba and Hitachi. I bet $1,000,000 that you have at least one hard drive manufactured by one of these companies in your Computer/Laptop right now. Kaspersky Lab has described them as “ probably one of the most sophisticated cyber attack groups in the world and the most advanced threat actor we have seen”.  The security researched have documented 500 infections and believed the actual figure was likely to reach tens of thousands of victims. These infected hard drives would have given the cyber criminals persistence on the victim’s computer and allowed them to set up secret...

How to Access a Damaged Hard Drive

The biggest loss when a hard drive is damaged is usually not the breakdown of the hardware but the inability to access saved data or complete data deletion. However, all hope is not lost because there are many tricks and tips that you can apply to try to access a damaged hard drive. Look for clues that indicate that you have corrupted files. For example, your computer may detect your broken hard drive but not let you access the data that was saved on it. At times, you may even see file names and icons appear but the files will not open. All of these hints suggest that you have a software malfunction.    Run any rescue and recovery software that came with your hard drive. Many hard drives come with built-in software that allows you to store files more efficiently. However, a virus or other glitch in the software of the hard drive can make saved data inaccessible even though your hard drive has not suffered from any physical damage. The rescue and reco...
